The UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Ministry of Health have been supporting initiatives to increase access to quality family planning services to the population of Nepal. HERD International and Mott MacDonald were commissioned by DFID to undertake the independent monitoring and evaluation of this work.
The following four studies were conducted to better understand factors affecting access to, and use of family planning services among selected population groups in Nepal:
The following research studies were conducted to evaluate three innovative pilot interventions aimed at increasing access to family planning in geographical areas of Nepal were regular delivery of family planning represents a challenge. The three evaluation reports are:
- Mobilising Visiting Providers to expand access to Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) in Ramechhap district
- Expanding wide range of family planning services through comprehensive FP events (VSC+) in Baitadi and Darchula districts
- Mobilising FCHVs to disseminate FP messages through interpersonal communications (IPC) skills in Myagdi district
