Climate change and health in Nepal: an urgent need for action

Abstract

Climate change stands as one of the foremost global challenges of our time. The World Health Organization projects an estimated 250,000 additional deaths per year due to climate-related factors between 2030 and 2050. In Nepal, the impact of climate change is already evident across various sectors. Since Nepal is already facing several climate-related challenges and consequences, immediate actions are now required to safeguard from the impacts of climate change on health and health systems. Thus, now is the time for us to step up and prioritize climate action, with an  emphasis on climate-health initiatives, on a local and national scale.
