Research Coordinator

Mr. Basudev Bhattarai holds expertise in the areas of public health nutrition with extensive experience of engaging with various nutrition related researches and trail. Throughout his career he has demonstrated expertise in collaborating with key governmental stakeholders in federal, provincial and local levels. He holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Purvanchal University. He possesses sound knowledge and expertise in the field of Public Health Nutrition. Over his 6 years of professional experience, he has developed technical skills in program planning and implementation, research, and monitoring and evaluation. In currently serves as Research Coordinator in HERD International.

Prior ot this, he served as a Nutrition Officer in the IMAM program. In this capacity, he gained field exposure, collaborated with local stakeholders, and engaged with communities to enhance the nutritional well-being of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Subsequently, at the Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF), he contributed to several research projects focusing on nutrition and public health. Notably, he conducted a pivotal country case study on the factors contributing to the reduction of stunting in Nepal.

At HERD International, Mr. Bhattarai has served in implementing different nutrition research trails for Comprehensive Anemia Programme and Personalized Therapies (CAPPT), Virtual Antenatal Intervention for improved Diet and Iron intake (VALID) and Pregnancy Investigation for Nutrition (PIN) projects.
Currently he is engaged in Community Solution to Anti-microbial Resistance (COSTAR) project where he oversees field-level interventions such as Participatory Video making, Community Dialogue, and household surveys to raise awareness and assess Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) on Anti-microbial resistance. Beyond this, his expertise also extends in the areas of food survey, clinical nutrition practices, statistical analysis, anthropometric measurements, nutritional surveys, qualitative assessment, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing. Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Bhattarai has consistently demonstrated proficiency in handling diverse and challenging tasks in research and development.
