Insights Issue 6: Maternal Mortality in Nepal

Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) is an important health service impact indicator that measures the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Efforts have been made by the Government of Nepal and development partners to enhance the availability of maternal healthcare services and advocate for antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, and emergency obstetric care. Nevertheless, there are ongoing difficulties in accessing women residing in remote rural regions, and factors such as quality healthcare, awareness, and socio-economic circumstances persistently impact the results of maternal health.
